Howard Dean for DNC chairman!

Word is that Howard Dean is on the short of list of possible persons to take over the DNC chairmanship. AP reports:

Jockeying for the top job at the Democratic Party is under way after Election Day losses, with former presidential hopeful Howard Dean indicating an interest in the post while other names are circulating.

If Dean were to take the position he would have his work cut out for him. Terry "the punk" McAuliffe's 4 years at the DNC has left the party in shambles, and probably has the tinfoil hat contigent of the party thinking he was a double agent working for Rove. Of course it was the Clintons who had McAuliffe made chairman. But thats not to say he had no conflicts of interest ::cough cough Hillary cough::, or that he hasnt been added to Karl Rove's Christmas card list.

In any event, a Dean chairmanship would be welcomed with equal enthusiasm from both the kook fringe of the Democratic party and the entire Republican party. It would be a signal to the country that the DNC has chosen to move leftward instead of embracing the moderate voters who made the President's upset victory possible last week.

It is for the above reason that I seriously doubt the grown-ups at the DNC will allow Dean to take the job. Then again, if the party truely wants to free itself from the Clinton grip this would be the best way to do it. That's for them to figure out, personally I hope he gets the job.

I also have a feeling National Review may be thinking of recylcing their magazine cover from the Democratic primary:
