Another election win worth noting today

Hamid Karzai has been officially declared the winner of Afghanistan's landmark presidential election.

The chairman of the nation's electoral board made the announcement at a ceremony in the capital, Kabul, on Wednesday afternoon.

President Karzai will be a key mid-east ally to the US, and will shape Afghanistan into a great example for the rest of the region. He is seen as a legitimate leader by the rest of the world, and has given credence to the fact that the Bush doctrine is integral to achieving real peace in the Middle East.
